CEO Update January 2016

Posted: December 16, 2016

Welcome to 2016!

2015 was a successful year for Interaction. It saw:

  • The expansion of our drop-in and high support accommodation services;
  • Growth in the variety and delivery of individualised supports Interaction provided across NSW including innovative planning options developed in partnership with the people we serve;
  • Interaction working alongside the people we serve to educate, inform and prepare for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as it rolls out across NSW;
  • The successful implementation of for-purpose grants including the My Neighbour, My Friend initiative; and
  • The opening of Fred Franks House by Hon. Minister John Ajaka.

As we continue to prepare the people we serve and their families for the full impact the NDIS will make in their lives, it is important we reflect on why the NDIS came about. The NDIS puts people with disability in control. It strengthens their rights to choose how, when and what supports they need and want to live enriched independent lives in our community. This approach to empowering people with disability is not new to Interaction. It is part of our culture, our processes, our everyday! This is why when people choose to come to Interaction, they stay with Interaction.

For those who are new to Interaction, or may be considering Interaction as their choice for quality supports, please know:

  • Interaction is a registered provider of NDIS supports.
  • Interaction is financially prepared for the changes the NDIS will make on our organisation; we continue to build our reserves through sustainable and robust economic management. This will ensure supports can continue to be provided with no impact on requested supports.
  • Interaction has the right systems in place to be flexible and innovative for those seeking quality supports from us. Supports are provided in partnership, based upon mutual respect, honesty and transparency.
  • Interaction has the right staff that meets and exceeds your expectations. We work with you to seek the best match for your circumstances.

In addition to the NDIS rollout in 2016, Interaction is also looking ahead to address the housing shortage that affects people with disability. I am proud to announce Interaction’s commitment to providing purpose-built accommodation for people with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) commencing in 2016. Interaction’s Board of Directors has approved the project commencement of providing worthy purpose-built accommodation for people with PWS that addresses the physical, psycho-social and inherent needs of this small but significant group of people.

We are also interested in hearing from other like-minded people who are seeking innovative housing options from Interaction. Interaction is currently working with groups of parents to identify the needs of their family members for a sustainable and  worthy capital solution.

I am always available to discuss how we can work together, so I encourage you to call myself or the Interaction team at any time.

Kind regards,

Craig Moore
Chief Executive Officer
